Spectacular Mara/ Lake Nakuru/ Amazing Ngorongoro Crater

This 8nights/9days tour combines a luxury safari in Kenya and Tanzania On the safari leg, you go to all the best places to see East Africa big cats and topography.

You traverse through some of Kenya and Tanzania’s most popular and spectacular game parks, with a chance to see East Africa rich wildlife and cultural heritage.

Your safari takes you to Amboseli, Ngorongo, Serengeti, Lake Manyara, Aberdare’s ranges, Lake Nakuru and Maasai Mara. Remember that between Kenya and Tanzania you have the most diverse and abundant wildlife in the whole of Africa.

The spectacular scenery and varied ecosystems are a bonus worth mentioning.


Drive to Lake Nakuru in time for lunch at Sarova Lion Hill. Proceed for an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. The park supports a wide ecological diversity with Flamingos and other water birds being the major attractions of the area. The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals including the white rhino and buffaloes and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species.

The sight of the at times millions of flamingos is quite spectacular. From a distance the lake appears ringed in pink. The Lake has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species- particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Lions, water-buck, buffalo and baboons are all residents here.

Drive to via the Great Rift Valley to arrive at Maasai Mara in time for lunch at Sarova Mara camp. 1600 hrs- go for an afternoon game drive till dusk. Seasoned safari travellers, travel writers, documentary makers and researchers often admit that the Masai Mara is one of their favourite places. So why is that?

Perhaps it is because of the 'big skies', the open savannahs, the romance of films like 'Out of Africa' and certainly because of the annual wildebeest migration, the density of game, the variety of birdlife and the chance of a hot air balloon ride. A combination of all these things plus something to do with the spirit of the place - which is hard to put into words - is what attracts people to the Mara over and over.

Go for morning game drive after breakfast till lunch. After lunch at the lodge you will have free time waiting for an afternoon game drive. At 1600HRS proceed to an afternoon game drive till dusk.

After breakfast check out and drive to Amboseli National park. Lunch will be offered enroute or have a packed lunch before proceeding to Amboseli National park. On arrival at Amboseli game drive will be provided enroute to oltukai lodge. The ecosystem here is mainly savannah grassland spread across the Kenya-Tanzania border.

The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to free-ranging elephants among other wildlife species. Other attractions of the park include opportunities to meet the Maasai and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Check into your lodge late in the evening.

Early morning game drive at Amboseli National park. Return to the lodge for breakfast. You spend the rest of the morning at leisure. After lunch at the lodge you proceed for an afternoon game drive till dusk.

After breakfast, check out and drive to Namanga border. Clear with Immigration before proceeding to Arusha. Lunch will be served at Impala Hotel, Arusha. You thereafter depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You arrive in time for dinner at the lodge. The lodge sits on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater from where you get awesome views of the collapsed volcano.

After breakfast you depart for a day tour of the crater. The drive commences with the 2,000-feet descent in to the crater floor, The Ngorongoro Crater is a natural amphitheatre created about 2 million years ago when the cone of a volcano collapsed into itself, leaving a 100 square mile caldron-like cavity.

This caldera, protected by circular unbroken rim 610-metres high, contains everything necessary for Africa's wildlife to exist and thrive. Inhabited by about 30,000 animals, of which half are zebra and wildebeest. This is the perfect situation for predators and spotted hyenas and lion’s lord over this domain. There are also some leopards, cheetahs and three species of jackals.

Tanzania's few remaining black rhino are regularly sighted in the crater, as are large herds of buffalo.

After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park to arrive in time for lunch at your lodge. 1600 hrs- you proceed for an evening game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Much of the park often appears to be in a heat haze created by the soda lake - Lake Manyara. The lake attracts considerable birdlife, and its surrounding terrain contains such a rich mosaic of different habitats that it supports a large number of animals.

The park is accessed by road via the village of Mto we Mbu, an eclectic market town where several tribes have converged to form a linguistic mix like nowhere else in Africa the lakeshore and sustains a Wealth of wildlife, including the Big Five -lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and buffalo. The park is famous for the elusive tree-climbing lions that inhabit the woodland between the lake and the Rift Valley.

It is also a paradise and is host to over 400 species of birds. You will spend the night at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge. The lodge is perched on the edge of the Mto Wa Mbu escarpment and has great views of the Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara itself.

0930 Hrs. After breakfast, check out drive to Arusha for lunch. After lunch connect to your shuttle bus to Nairobi. Lunch will be served at 1200 hrs at Impala Hotel. On arrival Nairobi, drop off at Nairobi safari club for overnight.
